Life of Pi

An excellent, breathtaking book by Yann Martel. I remember reading it when I was in year 9.  Such a fantastic, adventurous novel!!! I remember looking at the book cover (the one above) with amazed and kept asking myself what was this book about? Why the tiger? Why the small person there??? I took it off the shelf in the library and checked it out without even a glance at the blurb. I had abandoned all my homework and papers just to finish the book in the night. The more I read, I more I relised that I was drawn into the book and become part of the book myself.

The novel is about a Pi Patel, an Indian boy who experienced a shipwreck when his family immigrated to Canada, bringing most of their zoo animals with them. Fortunately, Pi survived the shipwreck. He stayed in a small lifeboat- with a hyena, zebra, orangutan and a tiger for company-, and adrift in the Pacific Ocean for 227 days. Most of his days were started and ended with thirst and hunger...

A 3D film version of "Life of Pi", directed by Ang Lee is coming to the cinema this November. No doubt that I will buy the ticket the first chance that I get :) Can't miss this, can I ! I enjoy the book so much that can't wait to see how the movie turns out. I'm sure hope it won't make me disappointed.
